A Spellbound Kingdoms RPG

Once Upon A Time…
There was an island lost to time. Almost no outsiders knew it existed since it was so small. It was home to vagabonds and the downtrodden who sought a better life for themselves. A simple existence surrounded by love and endless clouds.
“Pern” was its name. And the city of Pern lay within its boundaries.
Its citizens knew a quiet life, but some longed for more. The call to adventure knows no borders or city limits. And it certainly has no consideration for one’s responsibilities.
And sometimes, it comes to you.
This is where our story starts

Spellbound Skies
Therea is a realm in pieces. Every island (or stratum) is its own fiefdom with laws and nobles. They all have their own rules. We will begin our story on Pern, an isolated locale with a collection of three small islands that make it all up: Hearthholme, The Breach, and Duskwood.
The Pernians are a very accepting group of people. Their Departed are stationed at entrances around Hearthholme to deter any aggressive wildlife. Especially the pernian hook-nosed wyvern.
While trade is not established here for other stratum, the temperate setting and diverse lifeforms make it entirely plausible to live here without contact with other people.
It is difficult to get any number of people separated by a vast sky to agree on or believe in anything, there is the vague belief of the populace (or cloudborn) that there is solid ground far below the clouds. A magical land of abundance where all life will one day return: Terrestria.
None have seen the world’s surface. Skyships are unable to traverse the aether currents that seperate the skies from the lower atmosphere, and any that go too far down are doomed to remain.
Therea is a diverse realm with all manner of kingdoms and people. It is hard to map a realm when the difference between arrival and missing a whole kingdom is a matter of degrees up or down in addition to east and west.
In a world untethered by land, love is what will bind.

Rio
Nineblood | Rogue
Rio was born in Pern to a loving mother. He grew up a normal young boy with a passion for pirates. His enthusiasm was tended to like a budding garden by everyone around him. None more ardently than his own mother.
She read him to sleep most nights with an anthology of stories of his favorite character: Scarlet Snakebite, The Pirate Queen. And he knew that one day, he would be as legendary as her.
A few years ago, in his youth, his mother succumbed to a rare illness that could not be cured. The town and his stepfather uplifted the boy and cared for him those years.
But the time for grieving is over. Recent revelations have rekindled his passion. So, with his mother in his heart and his friends at his side, he has a legend to write.
Somehow.

Runa
Princess of Wolves | Witch
Pern has no shortage of outsiders living amongst the populace, and Runa is no different. She found her way here as a child, abandoned by her mother and raised by wolves. She was taken in by the village alchemist who taught her everything she knew.
Runa was able to take her master’s craft further than she could have on her own as a spellbound. With her predecessor gone, she has come into her own as the new Pernian alchemist.
Her specialty, last rights, allows villagers to return from death as skeletal servants to the city and guards. She tends to them every day and the people pay their respects.
She was not born here, but she cares for the pernian people as her own kin. But loose ends never tie themselves. And one wonders what hers may be.

Deimos
Wight | Warrior
A strange number of skyships have crash-landed on Pern. Deimos is just the most recent.
His arrival earned the most amount of scrutiny, given the reports of a monstrous creature at the edge of town. Fortunately, Pern has an affinity for the macabre, and he was taken in like any needy soul.
Not desiring to be a burden upon The Pernian Witch, he stays on the edge of town, using his combat prowess to fend off less-than-friendly creatures from the deep forest.
His past is a mystery even to himself. Runa has aided him in the treatment of a curse, but how he got it remains to be seen. He has no heading. No passion. No course. And a world of possibility on every direction.
